Mannequin figures photographed at a thrift store in Norfolk, Virginia, super-imposed (no photoshop) in front of my family portraits. The figures look “other-worldly” and in costume, staged with traditional b & w family generations pictures. This image reminds me of my own connection of the past to the present…and future, especially as my family includes bi-racial members. In the future, everyone will be brown-skinned, as “black” and “white” continue to expand (or contract???) the meaning of race so that one day, we–the Human race) will all be a combination of all of the races, black, brown, yellow, red, white and everything in between. Gives new meaning to my exploration of “CoLorfield” aRt.
